Steve sent a short story into a competition this month and Sandy and Carla are busily preparing for the Romance Writer's Association conference in August.
How do you start your story? Are you a plotter or a panster?
I like to plot, but not to the enth degree. I get to a point where I'm so excited about the characters that I picture a couple of random scene and just have to write them. From there the bones of the story unfold. Once I have a basic first draft down, I have to go back and make sure it all makes sense, fill in the gaping holes in the plot, correct the out-of-character actions and add the scenery, senses and emotion. After all that I still have a long way to go editing, polishing and re-jigging. What is your process?
